Butterfly Pleco (L168)

The L168 Pleco (Dekeyseria brachyura), also known as the Butterfly Pleco, is a striking armoured catfish native to the Rio Negro basin in South America. It features a flattened body and broad, wing-like pectoral fins that give it a distinctive butterfly-like appearance. Growing to approximately 12–15 cm in adulthood, this pleco is well suited to aquariums with suitable hiding places and stable water conditions. One of its most fascinating characteristics is its ability to change colour intensity, becoming darker to blend in with dark surroundings or at night and appearing lighter against pale substrates. Its unique appearance and intriguing camouflage abilities make the L168 Butterfly Pleco an attractive addition to a suitable freshwater aquarium.
